3//11/07 Lake Natoma

Me and Nick. Low flows, high sun, no fish. AGAIN!
2/24/07 Lake Natoma

Same old story. No fish!
3/12/07 Jenkinson Lake, a.k.a Sly Park

With all our recent skunks at Natoma, I started considering other options. Since it was a gorgeous day (75 degrees, perfect sky, no wind) I thought about Jenkinson. With cold night temps, some snow on the ground and spring in the air, I figured we might have a shot at a brown or a mackinaw. If not, at least a smallie or rainbow. Nick and I headed out about 2:30 and got on the water before 4pm. We put in at the main launch and started trolling with broken-backs while we searched for mackinaw. I had never fished for macks before, but figured go deep and big. We found some good water about 80' deep and dropped a Rebel Fastrac to 65'. After fighting the downrigger and trolling for a couple hours, we headed towards the marina. I noticed the bottom come up to about 25' so I tossed the Fastrac out, which gets down about 18'. I got hit not 3 minutes later, and fought my first mack for a couple minutes. A beautiful 21" mack, which put up a better fight than I have heard. Guess where I'm fishing Saturday?
